Furniture Trends

Furniture trends in the world of interior design invites us to blend the old with the new, crafting timeless spaces with comfortable settings creating a space that welcomes you in. Trends may come and go but timeless pieces of furniture stay and continue to elevate our interiors and stand out as features we know and love. During this week’s blog post we will discuss the current furniture trends going around and the ones that are here to stay. So sit down in your spot on the couch and settle in!

Sustainable Materials

The first trend in furniture we’re seeing a lot of, are furniture pieces being made of sustainable materials. Due to the impact furniture manufacturing causes on the environment many people want to use products that are made sustainable and have a low-impact on the environment. The example showed below is from West Elm- known for their sustainable furniture made of reclaimed wood.

Finely Crafted Wooden Furniture

Finely crafted wood furniture is always a desired look as it never goes out of style. This is a trend that sticks around for the ages and can be used in every home in a multitude of ways. We’re seeing more hand-crafted and finely crafted wood products being used in very room. The photo below is from a local Business Out of The Woods Muskoka.

Gentle Curves

Gentle curves come in various forms, from sofas and chairs to coffee tables and accent pieces. This is a new furniture trend we’re seeing this year as the style adds a soft, inviting feel to spaces. Its organic shapes promote flow and comfort, making interiors more harmonious and welcoming. This style also stands out against the former harshly squared corner products. The photo posted below is another Rove Concept product.

Sculptural Silhouettes

Sculptural silhouettes is another trend we’re seeing more of in the interior design community. These pieces come from the influence of the Art Nova era as these pieces of unconventional shapes make a standout appearance and add character to a space. We’re seeing these as chairs, tables and as accessories. The photo below is a side table from EQ3.

Vintage & Thrifted

Vintage and thrifted items are one of the biggest trends we’ve seen for furniture. Not only do we see items being passed down from family-to-family, but we’re also seeing people use thrifted items in there homes that they have either left as is or refurnished. Due to the cost and environmental impact of new furniture many people want to use second-hand owned items to save money. Mixing and matching these vintage styles with modern styles can create a stunning outcome.

Flashy Designs

Flashy designs are taking over in many homes. Bright and bold furniture colours are being mixed in with natural palettes and white tones. Pieces like arm chairs, stools, tables, and even rugs that are bold in colour are being mixed in with more tonal colours to create a contrast that stands out. This is a fun trend as it isn’t the main piece of furniture so it can easily we swapped out if needed. The photo below shows a bold orange chair from Wayfair!

Conclusion

We hope this week’s blog post gave you some insight into the new trends in furniture and that you are able to explore using some of these in your home! Furniture is a great way to show off your favourite colours and textures! Remember that it should always be comfortable in your home as well! See you next week!
