Fall 2024 Interior Design Trends

Fall 2024 is right around the corner- That’s right, cooler nights, crunchy leaves, the summer is coming to an end and as we say goodbye to summer 2024 we need to start switching out of summer interiors for our cozy fall interiors! This week’s blog post is all about fall trends for 2024 in interior design.

Earth Tones

Earth tones bring a sense of warmth and comfort to a space along with a timeless aesthetic. We’re seeing this trend in many homes as fall rolls around and spring comes into a end. One easy way you can incorporate earth tones in your home would be switching out decor items in specific rooms and replacing them with items in earthy tone colours.
For your kitchen you can swap out lighter accents for darker earth-toned textiles such as your dish towels, table runners, and seat covers/cushions. We’re also seeing a lot of terracotta pottery added around the kitchen to bring a more rustic look in, along with live-edge bowls and serving trays.
For your living room you can also swap out your summer blankets for warmer thicker textured blankets like large knit and wool. You can change or replace your pillow covers with deep earth tone coloured ones as well to add a sense of comfort and warmth.

Seasonal Centerpieces

Seasonal centerpieces are a great way to display your fall decor and add a beautiful focal point to a space. You can go any route with what you use for these center pieces, many people like to use a variety of mini gourds/pumpkins, display flowers in a wooden vase, display a fall coloured collage of flowers, sticks, and leaves. Even adding a wooden board to a table with fall-themed scented candles and foliage around the base. There are many different options and you can even DIY these centerpieces yourself to save on money and use again for next year!

Layered Lighting

Layered lighting is becoming a popular fall trend as it brings a comforting and cozy atmosphere. With see this being done with 3 types of lighting-ambient, accent, and task lighting. Each serve a distinct purpose and the artful combination of these lighting types breathes life into a room, making it visually engaging and comfortable for various activities. We see the use of natural lighting being used in many homes during this time of year, along with the use of smaller table lamps to create a calmer more intimate lighting effect. The last lighting feature we’re seeing a lot this year is candle light or faux candles used or placed inside of a lantern-styled cover. This not only adds an element of design to the room but it also goes with the fall seasons decor and aesthetic.

Warm Wood Finishes

Warm wood finishes are a great feature to incorporate into your home as they bring a sense of freshness and a connection to nature. These can be used as side tables, coffee tables, chairs, or dining tables. If you’d like to feature this in your home but with smaller products you can use things like wall shelves, ottomans, or benches.

Woven Elements

The last trend we have to discuss are woven elements. Woven elements are trending this fall as they add a rustic flair and textured look to a space. Some woven elements you can add into your home are baskets, rugs, and even drapes. Baskets are one of the main products we often see because of their storage use, we often see these being used to store former summer decor or products.

Conclusion

We hope this week’s blog post has given you inspiration to design your home with the new trends of fall 2024! Make sure you clean your summer interiors before putting them away for the season so you won’t have to deal with that new next! Thanks for reading, we will see you next week!
