Farmhouse

Farmhouse kitchens have been trending for years and they are still thriving now- so what makes a kitchen farmhouse styled? The word you’re looking for is rustic- designed with natural materials like exposed beams or brick walls with large cooking and eating spaces. The farmhouse style kitchen often features a apron sink and many natural wooden features like open shelves, reclaimed wood flooring and large wooden cabinets.

Modern

Modern kitchen styles have always been on trend as many people love the look of a clean organized kitchen. The modern kitchen style is a minimalist clean look that typically consists of open spaces with organized areas. With updated and new appliances, this space looks sleek with its use of simple materials and colour pallets.

Contemporary

A contemporary kitchen design is characterized by it’s built in cabinets and appliances that are also built into their surroundings. We often see clean lines, with the add in of neutral colours and textures creating a modern functionality and minimalist elegance.

Mediterranean

The Mediterranean kitchen design is a style known for it’s warmth and riches. Through the inspiration of warm colours seen in nature this style has many natural elements such as natural stone walls, exposed wood beams, or tile floors. We often see open shelving and areas where storage is used as a design feature such as hanging pots and pans.

French Country

French country kitchen design is shown through the weathered stone floors, exposed wood beams, honed marble countertops, and aged hardware. The use of traditional cabinetry with ornate furniture-like detailing is often seen in these designs. We often seen antique features and materials paired with warm neutral tones.

Coastal

Coastal design is known for it’s seaside elements distinguished by the use of light, airy hues, such as blue and white, and natural materials and colours, such as wood and seagrass. This style creates a relaxing and calm feeling with the use of it’s soft tones and organic materials.

Cottage

Cottage design is a culmination of French vintage, shabby chic and rustic decor. When it comes to cottage style we see rustic and natural materials such as wooden floors, and exposed shelving. The use of vintage materials and products for backsplash and flooring has also defined a cottage core look.

Midcentury Modern

Midcentury modern has taken over recently in kitchen trends as some people want to stick to what they know and love about kitchen styles but also brand out for more of a relaxed atmosphere. These signature elements for include clean lines, rich wood cabinetry, sculptural lighting, nature-inspired color palettes, and retro appliances. We’re often seeing coloured cabinetry and islands with the use of fun shaped backsplashes.

Industrial

Industrial kitchen styles are seen now more than ever especially in bachelor pads as they often provide a raw, urban aesthetic. This style is characterized by its use of raw, untreated materials such as exposed brick or concrete, along with reclaimed wood. We see the use of metal finishes, such as stainless steel or galvanized steel as an overall design mixed with darker colour tones.

Scandinavian

Scandinavian design is all about the neutral palettes, clean lines, less-is-more minimalist aesthetics. We see the use of wood furniture and finishes in usually a light-oak finish paired with light tones and simple lighting choices. For this style-more is less and less means organized with no clutter.
