Design With Nature- Natural Beauty In Your Home

Bringing it back to the roots- literally and figuratively- in this week’s blog post we’re discussing designing with nature and how to bring natural beauty into your home. Nature provides us with many beautiful and amazing materials that we can utilize and use in our homes. With the current rise of artificial and manufactured products many people are looking for more natural and organic options that bring life back into a space. So let’s get right into it and go over the different ways you can bring natural beauty into your space!

Natural Materials and Products

Natural materials and products such as wood, and stone and brick bring a type of character to a room that fabricated materials can’t produce. Being natural these products will always be unique and authentic while also having a lower impact on the environment. Materials like linen, rattan, and wool, are also used for many products that can be placed around your home counteracting as a lighter texture to be mixed with bold materials like brick, wood, or stone.

Live Edge Wood

Live edge wood is a great product to use in your house if you really want to bring in the nature look. The untouched end of slabs and furniture retains the original characteristics of a tree such as its shape, and its bark. These can be used as tables, shelves, seating, and even as cutting boards. All the rough edges, knots, and rings create the charm of a live edge piece. Having such an old and beautiful piece of wood really connects us to nature.

Stone

Stone brings a natural warmth to many houses interior’s with its natural look and charm. There’s even a wide range of types that you can choose from depending on what and where you’re using it. Many kitchens, bathrooms and living room areas benefit from using materials such as granite, or quartzite because of their timeless look and for the durability of the product. You can use these materials as a fireplace wall, as a countertop, and as flooring.

Marble

Marble has been around forever because of it’s timeless style and assortment of looks. This material is made out of metamorphosed limestone- the limestone is a sedimentary rock that is composed of the mineral calcite. It is used in interior flooring, decorative features such as fireplace walls, stairways and walkways.

Woven Natural Materials

Furniture, rugs and storage areas woven from natural materials are an amazing source of texture and visual interest for your home. Not only do they provide an airy and light mood to your space but they can also perk up dull spaces and brighten the look against other materials in the space.

One great example of this is rattan- the material used to make a wicker weave. It is a plant sourced from hot tropical regions and can be found growing in African, Asian and Australian regions.

Plants

Plants- these are one feature you can use you in your home to bring nature inside. Plants are a great way to not only brighten a room but bring life (literally) back into a space. There are a lot of indoor plants that are air purifiers and oxygen providers. Just make sure to look up if the plants are safe for animals indoors as several known indoor plants may be okay for humans but are toxic to our furry friends.

Conclusion

We hope this week’s blog post inspired you to design with nature and use natural products to lighten and brighten up your homes interior! We will see you next week, have a great long weekend!
